Yes – we often have plants growing in our nursery that are not yet on our online catalogue. Just send us an email with the plants or grades you are after and we will send you a quote. 

As a general rule, work out what height you are going to let the plant grow to, then plant them that far apart. For example, if a plant grows to 1m, plant at 1m apart. This is a good long term spacing, but will mean more weed control is needed for the first 3-4 years until your plants join together and shade the soil, stopping weeds.  

However, if you want your plants to join up faster to reduce maintenance, planting closer is fine. 

For hedge plants, the rule is to plant 1/2 the height of the hedge. For example, if you are wanting a 1m tall hedge, plant at 0.5m apart. If you are wanting a 2m tall hedge, plant at 1m apart.  

Most of our fruit trees are grafted onto rootstocks that we have found are the most suitable for Auckland soils. Because they are grafted they will be true to type and fruit at a young age. 

The rest of our fruit trees are cutting grown, which means they will fruit sooner and will be true to type compared to seedling grown trees. 

There are a few fruit trees we grow which are grown by seed, and this is mentioned in the description if they are seed grown. Seed grown trees can take 7+ years to start producing fruit. 

• If you have a stationwagon/SUV or hatchback you can generally fit 5-10 fruit trees (10l to 17L pots) into your car with the back seats laid down. 
• Smaller plants (1l to 3L plants) you can generally fit up to 50 in a normal sized car. 
• If you have a trailer or ute you can fit more, but remember to lay the plants on their side when transporting the plants if you can’t cover them. 
• We also can arrange delivery either with our own truck or with one of the Plant Specialist transport firms we use. 

Delivery cost depends on your location and actual address. Our online store does an estimate of the shipping cost, but feel free to contact us directly if you want a more accurate quote. 

For smaller orders we use NZPost courier, who generally deliver within 2 days, and you get a tracking number emailed once the plants are collected from us. We dispatch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays, so plants are not sitting around in a courier depot all weekend.

Larger Auckland deliveries we do ourselves in our own truck, and we generally do an Auckland delivery run on Thursdays and/or Fridays. If you need the order on a different day just let us know.

For larger orders outside of Auckland,  we use a specialist trucking company, which can take up to 10 days between your order being placed and the plants arriving. 

Yes. If you see a plant online you like, you are welcome to come and purchase it directly from the Plant Centre. Our online catalogue is updated daily with our current stock. 

Note that some varieties showing in our online catalogue are located in our Plant Nursery and not on display. Because of this, we do recommend ordering online first, or sending us an email with your request, as on a busy day in the Plant Centre we may not have staff spare to go to our nursery.

Our online freight calculator is based on sending plants by courier. If you are placing an order of 30+ plants, it sometimes works out a lot cheaper for us to send the plants on a specialist plant delivering firm.

However, we need your actual address first then we get a quote from the trucking firm.
