Our experience using these in the Auckland region:

A lot of people don't like these because they get eaten by slugs and snails. Here is the secret to getting these looking good. Plant them into around 10cm of bark mulch in a dry spot under trees, and plant around 4 per metre. They won't need a lot of looking after, and you get the stunning show of flowers in the late spring.
